Leighton Park School

Leighton Park is a school that inspires Achievement with Values, Character and Community. It is a co-educational private school for both day and boarding pupils in Reading in South East England. The school’s ethos is closely tied to the Quaker values, having been founded as a Quaker School for boys in 1890.

Leighton Park grew from 4 boys in 1890 to 103 in the 1920s. By 1970 the school had 300 pupils, and in 1975 girls were admitted to the sixth form. In 1993 the school became fully coeducational. Today the school is home to around 520 pupils drawn from over 44 different countries.

It has the top performing Sixth Form in Berkshire for the academic progress that the Sixth Form leavers make and 14th among all boarding schools in England. Its approach shows that balancing high-quality learning (and yes – hard work!) with fun, living adventurously, sports, performing arts, off-curriculum projects and helping others is the best way to achieve academic success.

Leighton Park students accept offers from many different universities in the UK and abroad. Degree choices are varied but often reflect the school’s strengths in STEAM, Music and Business. Last year 62% went on to STEAM-related degrees and 45% went on to research-intensive Russell Group universities. Students also went on to specialist institutions that are the very best in their disciplines, such as four students going on to conservatoires to study Music.

The School and its beautiful parkland campus are conveniently located on the edge of the historic town of Reading, just a short bus ride or good walk from the shops and the train station. A frequent train service connects Reading to London Paddington in just 25 minutes!

International Summer School at Leighton Park

In keeping with the School’s history and mission for growth and development, we are delighted to announce that we are partnering with Experio Summer to provide an international summer school for overseas’ students aged 8-17 in July and August. With Experio Summer’s reputation and 20+ year track record of delivering high-quality summer schools at some of the UK’s leading boarding schools, we are entirely confident that our international summer school will meet the same high standards for which Leighton Park is widely known. It will also give prospective and future overseas’ boarders an ideal opportunity to experience living and studying at Leighton Park while getting to know the local area and some of the UK’s most famous cities (e.g. London, Oxford, Cambridge, Bath) prior to joining the School full-time.
